Tirana – Day 8 homer, August 19, 2026 The archeology museum is small but packs quite a punch in historical treasures from Albania. This country has seen the Roman Empire, the Ottoman Empire and Communism, but before all that there were people living here for centuries. Nearby the museum is a park that has bunkers all over the place. And the reason for them is nearby is Mehmet Shehu’s villa. He was a communist leader who some suspect may have been spying for the KGB and/or CIA but no one has proved it. He was a brutal dictator according to Wikipedia. For the evening I went out for Sushi. I was quite impressed with this restaurant and I had it all to myself. Had a great conversation with the waiter about Albania. Going to Macedonia tomorrow so I called it a day. Tirana 2026
