Tirana – Day 13 homer, August 24, 2026 I started the day at Mon Cheri, its the “Starbucks” of Albania. A chocolate croissant and coffee to start the day. The tour bus picked the group up and despite advertising it would be 27 or less it was almost a full large bus of at least 50 people. The first stop was Belshi Lake. It’s nothing to write home about but the small town surrounding it has a serene feel to it. For anyone contemplating a quite retirement with a lake view, this may be worth a look. This is Kalaja Castle in Berat. It’s 5000 hectares and there are tons of churches, shops, restaurants and presumably housing inside the castle walls. The photos below are from the Museum inside the castle. It is an orthodox church since there is an iconstasis. Photo bomb expert! Majestic views from the Castle. An below is the Berat UNESCO old town. The castle is way on top. Berat is worth a visit when you’re in Albania. The drive from Tirana wasn’t too bad and I wish I had more time since I missed a few museums on this day trip. Uncategorized
