Tirana – Day 1 homer, August 12, 2026 It gets hot in afternoon so morning and evening at the times to do things in Tirana. Started at Skanderbeg square. It’s very nice. That musuem in the background is closed 🙁 Obligatory I love <the place>. Et’hem Bey Mosque below. It’s unique in that it doesn’t have the geometric shapes that most mosques have everywhere else. The entrance is in the far distance by the white building in that dome. There is a very large and extensive tunnel system in this nuclear bunker. Many sections are closed off but you can walk through at least 4 or 5 rows or areas. There is art in some of the rooms but most of it has depressing information on the evils of communism. Are these the Epstein files? There are images of victims and perpetrators. After the bunker went to go look at this clock tower. I thought about climbing it but it was too hot to climb. Stopped for lunch and had this thing. It was delicious and fairly cheap at 500 lek. Found a street with lots of vendors selling farmer goods. I bought some and will cook tomorrow. I’ve got a cooking class tomorrow so we’ll see how that goes. Tirana 2026
