We’re In Tallinn, Estonia

Woke up early to take a 7:30 a.m. Uber to the Ferry Terminal to board our Eckeroline Ferry to Tallinn, Estonia.

The ferry ride was pretty smooth and fast at 2 hrs. Seating on board was difficult to find, it’s a free-for-all and there were thousands of people on board the ferry.

You need to stand in line early if you hope to get one of the few large lockers on the ferry to stow your luggage and carry on stuff, they go fast. We were lucky to snag two big lockers and put all our stuff in there.

We walked around for a bit and this UNESCO old town area was truly amazing. We feel like we were teleported back in time to the 16th century. Our first stop was the Hellemann Town Wall and we climbed and walked along the long wall for amazing views of the city.

Then we climbed up the tower and had a great view of Alexander Nevsky Cathedral.

Next to the Wall there is a Dominican convent with a rich history. We stopped by to take a look and were most impressed with the artwork on the walls.

There is a medieval restaurant named Olde Hansa where the staff dress up and attempt to speak in medieval terms but they can’t quite get the names for things that existed during that time period. Here you go guys, click here.

We had an amazing almond apple pie-ish dessert here. If you come to Tallinn, you HAVE to stop and have the pie.

The old town is simply amazing. Lots of people from Finland come to Estonia for shopping, it’s cheaper, better variety and the restaurants vary and have amazing food. This has become one of my new favorite places.
