Madrid – Day 2 homer, October 17, 2026 The meeting point for the cooking class was this spot. The sculpture depicts a group of people standing closely together, their arms around one another’s shoulders. It symbolizes solidarity, unity, and the struggle for freedom and democracy. The figures commemorate labor lawyers who were attacked by far-right gunmen in Madrid on January 24, 1977. Five people were killed and four others seriously wounded. The victims worked in a law office on Calle de Atocha that defended workers and trade unionists. The attack became known as the Atocha Massacre (Matanza de Atocha). Our host arrived and took us to the market to pick up ingredients for the cooking class. Check out the prices! And here is Chef, she was a bit of a Captain Bligh but the crew held together. We sampled cheeses, oil, wine and vermouth between breaks. Sauce for “Pappas Bravas” Frying up pork for the paella. It should be rabbit but common complaints from people is that they dont eat easter bunnies. Took the subway to olive oil store but it was closed so went to a nearby free museum instead. Looks like someone I know. Madrid - 2026 Uncategorized
