Tbilisi – Day 12 homer, September 12, 2026 Started the day early for a multi-stop day trip. First up: Panorama of Zhinvali Reservoir. Second stop: Ananuri Fortress Complex Gudauri View Point – This is a tour stop where you can paraglide around the mountains. Russia-Georgia Friendship Monument – You can see Russia from here, where’s Sara Pallin? Pretty cool views from the Friendship monument. Every photo has a story…and the one below of the latrine goes like this… An elderly man, who I assumed to be Chinese, walked to this area to go to the bathroom. There is a sign that says 2 GEL to use the toilets. I’m not exactly sure what happened but the elderly man made a scoffing noise when approaching the toilets. The woman, who I assumed to be Georgian, got offended because she refused to let the man use the bathrooms. He tried repeatedly putting the coins in the woman’s hand but she would have none of it and physically pushed him away. The man left and walked back to his tour bus and I assumed that would be the end of it but a few minutes later, the bus tour guide, who was quite angry, came back with the elderly man and began shouting at the Georgian toilet guard that he should be allowed to use the restroom. The tour guide forcefully puts the coins into the woman’s hand and then walks the elderly Chinese man toward the toilets past the “gate” in the photo. I’m not sure if this was an incident of racism or something else but it was the first incident I’ve seen like this in Georgia and of course, it would occur in a fairly rural area of the country. Last stop: Gergeti Trinity Church The views from here are even better than the last stop. That’s the highest peak in Georgia in the background. Got back late and now going to do another day trip tomorrow. What a life. Tbilisi 2026
